Illinois CTE | Illinois Computer Science | ISTE Student Standards
The Technology Support Internship (TSI) is fully aligned with Illinois Career & Technical Education (CTE) standards, Illinois Computer Science standards, and the ISTE Student Standards. Students engage in real-world systems engineering, IT operations, robotics, AI, electronics, and digital infrastructure—meeting workforce, college, and industry readiness benchmarks.
TSI directly aligns with Illinois CTE outcomes by providing students with:
Hardware and software troubleshooting
Networking and device management
Automation and robotics engineering
Systems design and integration
Cyber safety, data privacy, and digital ethics
Workplace professionalism and operational accountability
TSI aligns with the Illinois Learning Standards for Computer Science, particularly in:

TSI strongly aligns with all seven ISTE Student Standards through daily applied practice:
Students take ownership of system design, repairs, robotics builds, AI projects, and continuous program improvement. They actively set learning goals and track their own progress through real outcomes.
Students practice data privacy protection, ethical AI use, responsible system access, and cyber safety in real operational environments.
Students research sensors, motors, power systems, and AI hardware. They validate technical information through testing and build knowledge through engineering iteration.
Students design original robots, electronics, and kiosk systems. They prototype, test, redesign, and improve continuously, solving problems without pre-written instructions.
Students break complex systems into smaller components, automate workflows, analyze failures and optimize systems, and build logical control systems for robotics and AI.
Students present technical solutions, explain design choices, demonstrate systems for staff and visitors, and share innovations at CTE events.
Students work in multidisciplinary teams, support school-wide technology operations, collaborate across grade levels and disciplines, and contribute to real community-serving systems.
TSI prepares students for:
TSI prioritizes local AI systems for student privacy, ethical AI demonstrations, transparent data use, and responsible automation practices.
Students learn not only how to build AI, but how to build it responsibly.
This alignment ensures that every project—robotics, repair, AI, automation, electronics—meets formal educational, technical, and ethical benchmarks while remaining fully student-driven.
